The 9/11 Memorial commemorates the 2,983 individuals killed during the 9/11 attacks and the 1993 World Trade Center bombing. Their names are inscribed into the bronze panels that form the edge of the pools constructed on the footprint of the twin towers. Instead of alphabetical, the distribution of the names follows an arrangement of meaningful relationships; family, friends, colleagues… etc, are grouped together. “Memorial Guide” is a multi-platform application that allows visitors to locate the names of victims in the memorial. A search engine provides local maps to identify the panel where a name is to be found as well as brief additional information. On site, a number of kiosks facilitate way-finding allowing visitors to print the location of the names on a card. Online, family members and friends can navigate the panels remotely and prepare for their visit.
